The Dome of a Home

The very popular Dome of a Home is a Pensacola Beach landmark, and only a few blocks away from me. This place claims to be resistant to hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and even earthquakes, according to their website.

It looks pretty indestructible to me. Here is the sign out front:

Looks like fun, but according to their website, they are no longer doing vacation rentals. Too bad!

Thanks for putting our house on your blog! With the line of hurricanes approaching this week, the dome makes more sense than ever to me. It weathered 2004’s Hurricane Ivan and 2005’s Hurricane Dennis with only cosmetic damages and provided a temporary safe place for those stuck on the island after Ivan. And while the infrastructure is destroyed for years from a big storm, I know my home and its contents are as safe as they could possibly be on a barrier island.

The house is currently for sale and for that reason, I am not renting the home in the off-season. The 2004 & 2005 hurricane season destroyed our rental seasons and the financial toll has finally caught up with us. If anyone is interested in a proven storm resistant home, give me a call! Thanks again for including us on your blog. 850.723.5107
